Sentosa Golf Club Singapore – where the Dragon’s Tail awaits!
This is, quite simply, as good as golf gets.
Some of the best players in the game will go head to head for glory at a course recently named the best in the world – no wonder LIV Golf is returning to Singapore in 2025.
The Serapong course at Sentosa Golf Club was crowned the planet’s top course at the annual World Golf Awards in 2023.
And nobody who has visited this visually stunning location – with its island setting and proximity to the bustling heart of Singapore – would ever disagree with that prestigious accolade.
As well as the beautifully designed course – which snakes between vast lakes ready to punish loose shots – the field must cope with the sultry heat of Singapore on March 14-16.
They must also beware the Dragon’s Tail, Asia’s answer to Amen Corner. This is a stretch of testing, twisting holes between the third and seventh where pinpoint accuracy is not merely a bonus – it’s a necessity.
Ground passes and hospitality tickets are on sale now, so check out the right option for you and start counting the days until our star-studded field meets the challenge of one of Asia’s most prestigious golfing venues.
Brooks looks for repeat at Serapong course
One golfing megastar sure to be looking forward to returning to Singapore is Brooks Koepka.
The big-hitting American – skipper of Smash GC – was the champion here last year.
Koepka’s 15-under-par total gave him a two-shot margin of victory over Aussies Mark Leishmann and Cameron Smith, and made him the first man to win four individual LIV Golf events.
He was certainly ready for the challenge of producing his best in the heat of Singapore.
“You know it’s going to be hot,” said Koepka after the first round. “It’s all about your prep going into it and what you’re doing the night before. I’ve got that handled.”
A year earlier, his fellow American Talor Gooch handled the conditions equally well. He tied for the lead on 17-under with Sergio Garcia before winning at the second hole of a playoff.
The Serapong course – which measures 7,300 yards – was for many years the host venue of the Singapore Open. Among the previous winners of that event who will be back to conquer the Dragon’s Tail are Garcia and Ian Poulter.
Long, proud, and green history of Sentosa GC
Numerous top-level golf events have been staged at Sentosa Golf Club in the years since it was officially launched by the Singapore prime minister in 1974. The Serapong course was opened in 1982 and has been significantly upgraded since.
The club sits on Sentosa island, just to the south of central Singapore, and actually features two championship-class courses. The Tanjong course, like the Serapong, has hosted several prestigious events over the years.
Sentosa itself is a popular tourist destination, with more than 25million people a year visiting the island’s holiday resort.
Sustainability is a key focus at this location and throughout the event. Fans are encouraged to minimize their impact on the local environment by recycling water bottles and keeping to designated walkways.
Green fees and dress code at Sentosa Golf Club Singapore
The privilege of teeing up at a venue as exclusive and respected as Sentosa Golf Club comes at a price. There are only 1,600 members of the club, who can enjoy the full benefits of the facilities including the on-site restaurant, driving range, pro shop, and club events.
Corporate and Ordinary memberships are not currently available. The only membership option on offer is a one-year Term Membership, which costs S$48,000 – more than $35,000.
You may play as a visitor, and the green fees are S$550, just over $400, for a round at the weekend and S$420, about $310, during the week.
But the stunning photos of the course on the club’s website, not to mention the online reviews by those lucky enough to play here, suggest this is a bucket-list experience. “It’s a truly spectacular golf course and it’s easy to see why it’s regarded so highly,” raved one visitor.
There is a dress code, which insists on “proper golfing attire” on the course, and smart casual when visiting the restaurant.
