Six LIV Golf players in action this week with goal of earning their way into this year’s Open Championship via Open Qualifying Series.

At the Asian Tour’s New Zealand Open, one spot is available to the top player not already exempt. New Zealand native Ben Campbell, a first-year member of RangeGoats GC), and Iron Heads GC member Danny Lee, who plays under the New Zealand flag, are in the field along with Australian-born Lucas Herbert of Ripper GC.

Campbell has twice been a runner-up in the event – 2017 when he lost in a playoff, and 2023 – while Herbert finished solo second in 2020. Millbrook Resort in Queenstown is the host course for the tournament, which dates to 1907.

Stinger GC teammates Dean Burmester, Branden Grace and Charl Schwartzel are in the field for their home country’s Investec South African Open at Durban Country Club. The tournament, one of the oldest national opens first played in 1903, offers three Open Championship spots to the top three players not already exempt.

Burmester is the defending champion, while Grace won the event in 2020.

Two of the six players in action this week already are guaranteed at least one major start in 2025 – Schwartzel as a past Masters champion and Burmester, who has qualified for the PGA Championship.

Next month’s International Series Macau presented by Wynn, March 20-23, will offer three spots for the Open.

Eleven LIV Golf players are already set for The Open at Royal Portrush on July 17-20.
