Legion XIII Captain Rahm withdraws during Round 2 at LIV Golf Houston
HUMBLE, Texas – Legion XIII Captain Jon Rahm withdrew with an infection in his left foot after six holes of Saturday’s second round at LIV Golf Houston.
Rahm shot a 3-under 69 in Friday’s opening round at the Golf Club of Houston, and parred all six holes he played Saturday before deciding to withdraw.
Rahm currently is second in the Individual points standings through his first seven tournaments since joining LIV Golf last December to captain the expansion Legion XIII team. He remains scheduled to play in next week’s U.S. Open, which he won in 2021.
Scores for the remaining three Legion XIII players – first-round co-leader Caleb Surratt, Tyrrell Hatton and Kieran Vincent – will count for Saturday’s team scores. Legion XIII will add reserve player Ben Campbell for Sunday’s final round, in which all four scores count for each team.
Campbell is ranked 11th in the International Series standings this season.
With all three reserve players now in action this week – John Catlin has replaced Charles Howell III for Crushers GC prior to the first round, while Wade Ormsby replaced Stingers GC Captain Louis Oosthuizen prior to the second round – Luis Carrera of Mexico has been called up to be a reserve for Sunday's final round.
Carrera, who has made five starts on three different tours this year, was also a reserve at LIV Golf tournaments this season in Miami, Las Vegas and Jeddah.
