MEXICO CITY – Several players have made significant equipment changes for LIV Golf Mexico City, with nearly 18% involving driver swaps and more than 15% involving putters among the 73 changes from the previous LIV Golf event in Miami.
In addition, 4Aces GC Captain Dustin Johnson has been busy looking at a variety of new clubs, trying out five drivers and four putters. But he ultimately teed off in Friday’s first round opting to not make a change, sticking with his TaylorMade QI35 driver and TaylorMade Spider Tour T3.0 putter..
Among the changes for this week:
-
David Puig (Fireballs GC) makes his third putter change of the season, switching from Callaway Odyssey AI-One to a Titleist/Scotty Cameron T 9.5
-
Charles Howell III (Crushers GC) is switching irons from Callaway Apex TCB to PXG 0317CB; the last time he had success with PXG irons in the bag was his win in Mexico in 2023 at LIV Golf Mayakoba
-
Carlos Ortiz (Torque GC) moves to a new PING driver model following the team’s new sponsorship deal that was announced this week; he’s switching from the G430 LST to the G440 MAX
-
Richard Bland (Cleeks GC) makes his third driver change for the season, switching from TaylorMade QI35 back to PING G440 LST, which he last used in Hong Kong earlier this year

-
Brooks Koepka (Smash GC captain) makes his first LIV Golf start with his new Titleist GT3 driver (previously playing a TaylorMade QI10); he first put the Titleist GT3 in his bag at the Masters

-
Tom McKibbin (Legion XIII) adds the new Callaway Elyte Mini Driver to his bag, making him one of the first LIV Golf players to do so; he had been playing the Callaway Paradym AI Smoke 3-wood
-
Jinichiro Kozuma (Iron Heads GC) makes his season debut with a new driver and putter in the bag from his last appearance in 2024; he’s using the Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond driver and Callaway Odyssey 6M putter
