  • Captain Bryson DeChambeau and his Crushers GC won the 2023 Team Championship at Doral and enter this year having won consecutive team titles at LIV Golf Jeddah and LIV Golf Hong Kong

  • Torque GC Captain Joaquin Niemann, already a two-time individual winner in 2024, enters as the season-long Individual Championship points leader through the first four tournaments

  • Legion XIII Captain Jon Rahm, the only player this season to finish inside the top 10 in all four tournaments, is playing Doral for the first time as a professional

  • Rahm will make his final start before heading to Augusta National to defend his Masters title; he is one of 13 LIV Golf players who will compete in the year’s first major

  • HyFlyers GC Captain Phil Mickelson, 4Aces GC Captain Dustin Johnson and teammate Patrick Reed have won individual titles in previous pro tournaments held at Doral, while Johnson and Reed were members of the 4Aces team that won the LIV Golf Team Championship during the inaugural 2022 season

KIM'S FIRST U.S. START SINCE 2012

Wild Card player Anthony Kim makes his first start in his home country since returning to professional golf last month at LIV Golf Jeddah after a nearly 12-year retirement.

Kim's last professional tournament in the U.S. was in June 2012. Following surgery on his Achilles tendon, he retired from competition until joining LIV Golf as a Wild Card player for the remainder of the 2024 regular season.

Although disappointed with his results, the 38-year-old California native showed signs at LIV Golf Hong Kong that's he shaking off the rust after his lengthy absence. His final-round 5-under 65 was his first sub-par round since his return, and he led the entire field in putting for the week.

"I knew something good was coming," Kim said after his round. "It's hard to stay patient when you feel like it's right there, and I'm really happy that it hasn't taken me one more round to get here. I'm just happy about the progress I'm making and the confidence I'm building going into the next few weeks."

  • The Blue Monster course at Trump National Doral is hosting its third LIV Golf tournament and first in the regular season after hosting the Team Championships in 2022 and 2023

  • Doral hosted elite-level professional tournaments starting in 1962

  • The course was lengthened and made more dramatic during a complete redesign by famed golf architect Gil Hanse in 2014

  • The course features a series of strategically placed deep bunkers, long flowing fairways, interesting undulating greens, deep Bermuda rough and a challenging assortment of water hazards

  • The famous 18th hole is traditionally considered one of the most difficult in golf

  • LIV Golf members Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson and Patrick Reed are among the golfers who have tamed the Blue Monster, while Bubba Watson is a three-time runner-up

  • LIV Golf Commissioner and CEO Greg Norman won three times at Doral during a seven-year stretch (1990, 1993, 1996)

  • In last year’s final round, the par-4 7th was the most difficult hole, playing to a stroke average of 4.333, while the par-5 8th was the easiest with a stroke average of 4.229.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT THE BLUE MONSTER

PHIL MICKELSON
“This is a great golf course. It lends itself obviously with the [closing hole] to this course being pretty exciting.”

CHARLES HOWELL III
“This golf course is brutal and every shot counts. There's a lot of water out here, a lot of crosswinds and a lot of difficult shots.”
